Guitar Lessons In Paradise

In a recent trip to thailand i decided to film 2 ground breaking lessons covering topics that many intermediate guitarists have problems with. Modes and the Blues. We kick off this weeks lesson with the Blues

Overview

Not only do you get a free guitar lesson this week but one filmed on a tropical island in Thailand! So kick back and lets get to it. There are plenty of blues guitar lessons out there but not quite one like this. In this lesson you will be thinking a lot like a jazz musician. Blues chords often use Dominant 7th chord shapes. I will be teaching you the shapes and the scales to use over each. Unlike most blues playing you are going to be shifting between a few different scales and not just the pentatonic blues scale. The result is a really unique way of approaching blues guitar that will make you sound very unique and also push your mind a lot further than just the pentatonic minor scale!

I encourage you to take each lesson and try to develop the exercises rather than just learning what i have played to you. Try them out in different musical situations or try to develop your own variation. You will be surprised how creative you can be when you take these ideas as starting points.

This sweep picking lick is based of 2 key chords that are broken up into 3 patterns. Learn the 3 arpeggios first and then add in the slides. Combine the both hands together and you get an awesome new lick you can take into your own playing
